Residents in West Mifflin said they awoke to screams for them to get out
of their burning building. Firefighters said a fire started at about 4 a.m. in the
30-apartment Mifflin Estates along E Drive.

Fire officials are still investigating the fire, but said they believe it began on the second floor.

The fire marshal said they don't believe foul play was involved.

"There's no red flags at this point. We know which apartment we're looking at," said Donald Brucker, Chief Deputy Fire Marshal.

He said they were able to start fighting the blaze soon after it started, but declared the building a total loss.

The fire marshal said that about 25 people now are homeless and many residents plan to stay with family.

Nobody was hurt in the fire.
